How to Choose Mulberry Silk Fabric

Different fabrics differ greatly in hand feel, drape, thickness and price. Choose by the effect you want — more important than assuming the priciest fabric is best.

Silk Twill

A fine diagonal weave on the surface, crisp with body, stable color reproduction, resistant to deformation — the most common scarf fabric. Good for square and long scarves, smooth drape, wrinkle-resistant. Common 16 / 17.8 / 18 / 22 momme.

Silk Satin (Charmeuse)

Glossy front like a mirror, matte back, luxurious sheen, cool and smooth hand. Strong drape but slightly prone to snags; good for gifts and outfits that pursue "premium sheen". Common 12 / 14 / 16 momme.

Silk-Wool

Mulberry silk blended with wool (e.g., 10% mulberry silk + 90% wool), combining silk sheen with wool warmth and thickness — first choice for autumn/winter scarves; holds its shape and won't go limp.

Silk-Cashmere

Mulberry silk + cashmere (e.g., 35% mulberry silk + 65% cashmere), extremely soft, lightweight yet warm, with a premium hand feel — good for high-end scarves, higher unit price.

Wool

Pure wool, thick and warm, great value for money — good for large winter long scarves, fairly stiff drape.

How to choose

Want crisp color-showing → silk twill; want mirror sheen → silk satin; want autumn/winter warmth → silk-wool / silk-cashmere / wool. For detailed specs and pricing see Pricing, for material testing see Quality Assurance.
